Frequently Asked Questions
+ Are different sizes available?
We currently offer The Plectrum and The Pill. If you would like a bespoke size, please let us know
+ Does it require foundations?
Because WorkAways are made from a lightweight timber structure, significant foundations are not required. We offer a number of support options depending on the type of surface that the WorkAway will sit on. Simply select the surface type in the quotation form, and your quote will be adjusted accordingly.
+ Is there insulation?
WorkAways are constructed using Structurally Insulated Panels (SIPs) with 74mm of EPS insulation in the walls and floor and 98mm in the roof.
+ Do I require heating?
WorkAways are fitted with an electric panel heater, which can be Wi-Fi or Manually controlled allowing for year round comfort.
+ Do I require planning permission?
Generally, if you are installing a WorkAway in the garden of a house you will not need planning permission. If your garden belongs to a flat, is attached to a listed building, or is in a conservation area, you may need planning permission and should seek advice from your local authority. If planning is required we can assist for an additional cost.
+ Are there different colours available?
We currently offer cladding in black only. We are working on providing different colours, as well as alternative desk configurations. Watch out for further ‘special edition’ cladding options. If you would like to look at different options, let us know.
+ How is the WorkAway ventilated?
A temperature controlled air vent is included as standard to all WorkAways, providing natural ventilation. PLease note, this does not constitute air conditioning.
+ Does the inside have electrical points and hardwired internet connectivity?
We provide two wall mounted double power sockets and an ethernet data outlet, allowing a hardwired internet connection to your home. Connection back to mains power and internet hub is not included.
+ Can all parts be carried through the house?
Generally yes. Our modular construction is designed to allow sections to be easily transported and erected in small city gardens. We ask you to confirm any access restrictions with your initial enquiry.
